Wednesday Trends- Dimension

Today is the start of a brand new feature called Wednesday Trends. Every Wednesday our Trendsetter of the week will feature a favorite trend. This week is my turn and any of you that have been following my blog for any length of time will probably already know what my favorite is ;) Dimensionals! They come in all shapes and sizes and can really bring life to any project.

I made a card using images from the new TSG set Fairy Good Day to demonstrate this trend. This whimsical set is perfect for coloring (I used Prismacolor pencils and OMS for this card), cutting out and layering. When I'm doing a project where I am adding dimension to a single stamped image, I prefer to use a couple of different thicknesses.

I started out by creating my card base and main panel (grass image is from the set Slow and Steady). I stamped my mushroom village onto white card stock twice and colored it in. I cut out one of the mushroom villages out in it's entirety. I then decided which images I wanted to be raised and cut those out of the second image. I adhered the first mushroom village to the main panel with some thin dimensionals and on top of that added the second layer of dimension (the larger mushroom on the far right and the tiny mushroom on the top left. Next I used thicker dimensionals for the "top" layer which are the two mushrooms with the larger white spots. The cute little fairies were also added to the card base with dimensionals to make them look like they were flying :) I created the sun by cutting out paper using circle nesties, sponged color to the outside edges and you guessed it- more dimensionals lol!

The mushroom village is easy to try this trend out on because you can pretty much tell which images should be raised above the others.
Close up of the card front-
Side view (funny how this looks more like a lego house than it does a card lol!)-
And I always like to finish off my card by decorating it to match the front. For something a little different, I used a square layer instead of rectangle like the rest of the card.
I hope that you enjoyed out first installment of Wednesday Trends! If you have something you would like to see featured here please email me at Jessica@thereshegoesclearstamps.com !

  4. WOWZER!! This is a really cute card and I love the idea of layering the dimensionals and using differnet thickness, I have never thought of that. I ususally just use the same size, so I can't wait to try this! Your colors and layout are very pretty!
